Man, his relationship with the environment, being, being, are the theme in the work of contemporary artist Valéria Corrêa Porto.
Self-taught, an artist with a keen eye for current events, he uses realistic, sometimes diffuse figures to compose his characters, and he does so as if he were looking from within, into and through. He believes that his brushstrokes tell a story. In his words: "everything that is visible in this work is what gives life to the invisible."
Valéria Corrêa Porto entered the arts circuit in the early 90s when, together with a group of artists from her city, in the interior of SP, she held a series of exhibitions in the interior, coast and capital.
Valéria was born in SP, but was raised in Porto Ferreira, in the interior of the state, where she lives.
The painter works in oil on canvas, or panel. In 2024 she held the exhibition “Brasileirinhos - singular compound”, composed of 12 new works and is currently working on the series “The Shepherd”, for an exhibition to be held at the Municipal Museum of Porto Ferreira in September.
Types of work developed:
Painting - oil on canvas, Illustration, watercolor
